Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole child of Richard McCormick Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father worked as an educator at school while her mother was a stay at home mom. There are three brothers older than her: Michael Dennis and Kevin. McCormick began dancing and singing in her early years and often performed puppet shows in front of children in her area. The fairytale story of her rise to fame began when she took home her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest in the age group of 6 which led to being contacted by talent agent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency who asked whether she wanted to enter the show industry. McCormick got her first job as a leading actress in 1964. McCormick was in a commercial for Mattels' newest doll Baby Pattaburp. The following year she was a guest on another firm's Chatty Cathy Doll and was immediately chosen to play the La Jolla Playhouse play Wind ItUp and ItBreaks. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was one of 1200 children to play the oldest towheaded girl in The Brady Bunch. The sitcom starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed who were newlyweds with a blended-family. The five-year run of The Brady Bunch was an enormous great success. McCormick admitted her story in Heres the Story. Surviving Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published in 2008) that McCormick was close to losing her Virginity in the hands of Barry Williams during the five-year period in the series. The actress was sixteen years old and the actor was 19 at that at the time. The two of us could have been in a romance, she said. But the timing wasn't the right time.
